The TYPICAL Lisbon tour is an invitation to discover the historic heart of the Portuguese capital through three of its most emblematic areas: São Jorge Castle, Graça, and Alfama.
More than just visiting monuments, this tour allows you to experience the true essence of Lisbon as you traverse narrow streets, stairways, squares, and neighborhoods where the city’s history intersects daily with the lives of its inhabitants.
We begin in the area of São Jorge Castle, one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks and a true testament to the city’s history. From there, we make our way through the old streets and narrow alleys of Alfama—Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood—where heritage, architecture, and tradition are encountered at every turn.
Along the route, we will have the opportunity to discover some of the most important points of interest in this historic area, including Lisbon Cathedral—one of the city’s oldest and most iconic religious monuments—and São Jorge Castle, with its strong connection to Lisbon’s medieval history.
One of the great highlights of TYPICAL Lisbon is its viewpoints. At the Portas do Sol Viewpoint, you can enjoy one of the most famous views of Alfama, the Tagus River, and the city. Heading up towards Graça, we reach the Senhora do Monte Viewpoint—a prime spot for taking in Lisbon—and the Graça Viewpoint, where the cityscape takes on a new perspective.
The route also includes sites of great historical and cultural importance, such as the National Pantheon and the Church of São Vicente de Fora—monuments that help one understand the richness and diversity of Lisbon’s heritage.
Amidst ups and downs, viewpoints, and centuries-old streets, you will discover a different Lisbon—closer, more authentic, and full of personality.
Alfama, Graça, and Castelo await you.
